Dr. Jessie Mahoney

Dr. Mahoney is a master-certified coach, yoga instructor, physician wellness expert, and pediatrician. She is the founder of Pause & Presence, where she offers 1:1 and small group coaching for those who are successful on the surface yet struggling underneath. She leads coaching, yoga, and culinary medicine retreats in spectacular natural locations across California.


Dr. Ni-Cheng Liang

Named by Mindful Magazine as one of the 10 Powerful Women of the Mindfulness Movement 2021, Dr. Liang is an award-winning pulmonologist, a breast cancer survivor, and a mindfulness teacher. She is the founder of the Mindful Healthcare Collective and Awaken Breath.

What makes this retreat special?

  • It is experiential. There are NO lectures or conference rooms. Learning comes from immersion in nature, mindful practices, coaching and collective sharing.
  • We spend the entire long weekend in nature and in zenful spaces.
  • We eat organic food grown in the nearby Earth that is prepared with mindful intention and love.
  • You will leave with tools to incorporate mindful and intentional living into your life back at home.

Do I need a car?

A car is highly recommended. You will need transportation to and from your lodging of choice to Green Gulch Farm and Zen Center and Muir Woods. None of the retreat locations are "uberable."

Is lodging included? Where should I stay?

No. Lodging is arranged and paid for separately. There are many delightful, unique "inn experiences" to choose from. We recommend The Mountain Home Inn, The Pelican Inn, The Waters Edge, The Mill Valley Inn, or the Acqua Hotel. An Airbnb in Mill Valley or Muir Beach are also great options.

Where do I fly into and when should I arrive?

San Francisco International Airport. The retreat will officially begin at 10:30 am on Friday.

Can I come to the retreat center on my own before or after the retreat?

The retreat center is a sacred Zen center environment. It is only open to pre-arranged retreats.

Who is this retreat NOT for?

  • Those who want lectures or a spa experience.
  • Those who prefer the indoors or city life.
  • Those who are not open to new experiences and moving their body in nature.
  • Those unable to walk 2 miles on uneven terrain.
  • Those unwilling or unable to sit on the floor or get dirty.

What is the difference between the Mindful Healers Retreat @ Green Gulch; Honoring Diastole @ Pie Ranch, and Nourish & Transform @ Sagrada

  • All of Jessie's retreats are held in nature. Each offers different natural wonders, content and focus. You are welcome to attend all of them.
  • The Mindful Healers Retreat is a long weekend retreat. It does NOT include lodging. The focus is on mindfulness, community, and PLAY in nature. It is an energizing and active retreat. Coaching plays a minor role. It is a mixed gender retreat.
  • The Nourish & Transform retreat is a many night residential retreat for women physicians. Relaxation, nourishment, and opening your mind and body to new persepctive are the focus. It offers complete immersion in a relaxing and healing natural environment. The focus is on coaching, yoga, and nourishing yourself well. It includes an opportunity for 1:1 coaching, culinary "experiences", and an abundance of coaching and yoga.
  • Honoring Diastole is a day-long retreat on a sustainable farm on the Northern California coast. It features reflective writing on a hilltop, yoga in a barn, an introduction to coaching, a farm tour, and a luxurious seed-to-table lunch prepared in an outdoor farm-side kitchen. It is open to all.
