Dear Friends,
I hope this newsletter finds you all in wonderful spirits! I am enjoying each day I stay in Thessaloniki, with its vibrant streets, rich history, my family, friends and warm people who have made my return special.
One of the highlights of my trip has been celebrating Greek Orthodox Easter on the enchanting island of Tinos. It is an Aegean Sea Island of serene beauty, with its graphic main port where the revered Church of Megalohari, known for its miracles, is located. The mountainsides are sprinkled with small, charming villages, leading down to its sandy shores. The Greek Orthodox Easter rituals, like the Epitaphios procession, were a truly moving experience.
This was followed by a visit to the ancient Macedonian capital of Aigai, where major archaeological finds include the palace of Aigais, built by Philip of Macedon and home to Alexander the Great, and the royal tombs. A brand new museum exhibits the rich findings, rich in Macedonian gold. The photo is from that visit. But more excitement yet!
