Free Britney, Pride, and Popup |

Celebrating Pride month, a take on Britney Spears' conservatorship, news on my popup, and a newly married couple. Hello! I'm getting back on schedule with a regular Sunday night doodle! We've got some colorful ones below, a peek at my new stickers and business cards — learn how to get some!, me selling cards (and shivitzing) in real life, and my cousin with his new wife. Enjoy! If you're new to Danielle in Doodles, welcome! I publish this newsletter of my latest doodles every Sunday, and you can see archives here. |

A few months ago, I made a love story doodle for Peter and Alex (see it here). I reused one of the doodles for this happy, colorful pride doodle! |

Britney Spears went to court this past week to gain control of her finances and leave her conservatorship. Her father took control of her finances and work decisions after her mental health crisis in 2008. Since then, it seems that her family, and the court-appointed conservator, have abused their role and taken away the pop star's free will. After not hearing from her in years, it was powerful, and heartbreaking, to hear her talk about her situation in her own words (I listened to her testimony here). A niche group of people have been saying Free Britney for years, and even protesting. The movement is gaining momentum. And I realized that, eerily, some of her own lyrics describe her situation, so I used them with her supporters for her doodle. I hope she can finally live her own life. |

I set up a table in front of Prospect Park last Saturday (June 18). I sold a few Father's Day cards, gave out awesome new business cards and stickers, and chatted with passersby. It was helpful to see what people were interested in — mostly the custom drawings, the love story product, and the Haggadah. (I have an awesome new love story cartoon I just finished and will share in my next newsletter). I think I'll do a popup again when I have new cards (coming soon) or my next book, "Quarantine Chronicles" is ready (hopefully September!). |

Mazel Tov, Greg and Jaime! |

I went to my first post-vax wedding last weekend for my cousin, Greg. It was a beautiful event and it was incredible to reunite with so much family. Before the wedding, I doodled the bride and groom and turned it into a card. At the wedding, I was happy to be upstaged by an artist, Janet Howard-Fatta, who painted a beautiful live event painting on site. |
