Strengthening Families Program

For the second time the Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is back!! Families around Washington County, RI are coming together to strengthen communication and relationships within the home. Check out the video above to learn more about this exciting program! 

This program has been modified virtually. Parents and youth attend weekly SFP skills classes together, learning parenting skills and youth life and refusal skills. SFP teaches three types of youth life and refusal skills. SFP teaches three types of research-proven skills – bonding, setting boundaries, and monitoring kids’ activities. If you or someone you care about is dealing with COVID-19-related stress or anxiety, call one of these 24/7 hotlines for information on services such as treatment or counseling. Hablamos español

  • Kids’ Link [lifespan.org], 1-855-543-5465 (under age 18)

 

Where can I get recovery support?

  • Find employment opportunities at a Rhode Island workplace that has earned a Recovery Friendly Workplace designation.
  • Peer recovery support specialists are people who are in recovery from substance use or mental health conditions. Their life experiences allow them to provide support to others who can benefit. Call to speak with a certified peer recovery specialist to get support any time between 8 a.m.–8 p.m. at any of the following organizations:

Where can I get Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)?

If you are living with an opioid addiction, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Preventoverdoseri.org can help. MAT is the use of medications like methadone, buprenorphine, or naltrexone and is often used in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies.

  • Call the Buprenorphine Hotline, 401-606-5456, 24 hours a day, seven days a week to speak with a healthcare provider about treatment options and see if you qualify for buprenorphine over the phone or in person.
