Watershed Wisdom March 2020

 Greetings Water Stewards!

"From the evening of the last full moon in February, it finally began to rain in our region of Canberra, Australia. The sky had been filled with smoke from near and far fires which had been burning since mid-December. Rain-soaked deep in the soil, transforming bare earth to incredible green in a week. Water is renewing the life force of the Earth and continually surprising us with a variety of green growth. Finally, the fires are out and life goes back to ‘normal’ except for the 2 million people whose lives have been affected by this summers fires and the millions of loss of lives of animals and plants. We must not forget. Grateful now for New life, New Hope brought by a good rain."

~Julie Armstrong, LW Water Council Steward

With the joy of World Interfaith Harmony Week and its week-long focus on the Jordan River for Holy Land ~ Living Water, we begin to co-create synergistic coherence as we align with others around the world for World Water Day, Earth Day and UNITY EARTH’s Road to 2020.

Coming up join us for our NEW Watershed Wisdom Monthly Series beginning in April with our Loving Waters Council Steward, Elizabeth Herald, who will focus on water, not simply as H20, awakening our understanding and "Core Truth" that the essential life force of WATER is H3O2! This will surely rock your boat! Dates and details will be sent out soon.

Enjoy this month's Watershed Wisdom and allow us to support you and the connection to your region, river, and community!

What is Water?

Loving Waters 2020 Great Planetary Water Cleanup

A film by Elizabeth Herald

This unique visual video collage explores the question: 'What is Water?" We've learned that the covalent hydrogen bond, when one oxygen and two hydrogens clumb together to form H2O, forms a bond with itself. The attractive power that Water molecular covalent hydrogen bond IS what connects All Life on Earth...This is our one and only Essential Source Water. IT IS the cosmic glue holding All Life together.

FEATURE WATER INSPIRATION

ODE TO WATER

How is it that you go everywhere

with no obstacles but for the human made?

In your softness you swirl and slip around the hard and staid,

stroke the stones as you pass, laughing at their stubbornness,

seep through cracks to find the depths where darkness reigns

and scatter your diamonds in sheets of light

across seas and lakes and streams.

Shape-shifting into ice, you remodel landscapes

like a feng shui master, move mountains

             and smooth out the hills,

carve continents into whole new shapes.

Never afraid to fall, you trust in surrender,

cascade yourself from heights that would make me swoon

just for the joy of it, and day after day,

dance a slow cha cha with the moon.

And when you grow tired of earthbound life

you find wings, float angelic across the sky,

            masquerading as clouds.

Even go so high that you merge with the sun,

survive its fiery furnace who knows how…

And best of all you live in me

as blood and breath and flesh,

and, miracle that it seems to be,

you’ve thus learned to walk and speak and sing,

and Water, you remember everything

   you’ve ever been or touched

and bring those gifts to me so I can also know

I am part of All in this whole vast sea,

And that I, too, can trust in its seamless flow.

FEATURE WATER Challenge

Final Effort to Save the Rarest Marine Animal

Experts say that at most only 15 Vaquitas remain in the Gulf of California, where a grim, increasingly violent battle is playing out between emboldened fishermen and the last line of defense for the smallest and most endangered porpoise in the world. What is keeping them alive is a thin line of defenders: Every night volunteer crew members from ships operated by the environmentalist group Sea Shepherd go out to search the upper Gulf for hidden gill nets that catch prized - but protected - Totoaba fish and drown Vaquitas.
