Dear AZGA Members,
We have some great news to report!
Thanks to the AZGA advocacy efforts this past legislative session and thanks to ALL of our kinship families who have advocated on behalf of their families these many years -- The Governor's Office and the Department of Economic Security has authorized a one-time payment of $1,800 per child for eligible unlicensed kinship families. The Governor and Director Faust will be using pandemic relief funds totaling over $9 million dollars to provide this one-time financial support payment to our families.
Your membership, your participation, your stories and your voices made this possible! AZGA owes special thanks to Representative Joanne Osborne who helped negotiate for this money to go to kinship families and to Senator Lela Alston who tirelessly advocates for kinship families in the legislature.
Your voices will be needed and are more important than ever as we look to the upcoming state legislative session beginning in January.
Congratulations Arizona Grandparent and Kinship Caregivers on your amazing success!
With gratitude,
AZGA Steering Committee.
