CHBB MARCH NEWSLETTER

Check our October Newsletter for the "Before" photo of Jed Morgan's bike. One of our builders, Mark Daley at Thunderstruck Custom Bikes will be putting on final touches in the next few weeks getting it ready to present to Jed in Ontario, CA at the kick off for the 31st annual Run for the Wall. The unveiling and presentation is scheduled for 1:30PM on Tuesday, May 14th behind the Gateway Hotel (host hotel). Check notices in the hotel lobby for any last minute changes in the itinerary.

2019 will mark the 6th year that Combat Hero Bike Build has had the honor to present a motorcycle to a severely wounded combat veteran. We sincerely appreciate all the support that we have received from Run for the Wall board members, volunteers and participants.

Volunteer spotlight. Area Coordinator Karen White, jumped in during February with two event set ups. Karen attended a chili cook off put on by American Legion Riders at VFW Post 4061 in Canon City, CO and a Humane Society fund raiser in Florence, CO. Karen also attends ALR, Combat Vets and VFW in and around southern Colorado where she always has a bit of merchandise available. These fundraisers and miscellaneous events bring in sales as well as get the word out about our organization. They don't produce a large volume but they have little to no overhead costs and they certainly help.

Karen first got involved in fundraising for CHBB after seeing Chris Claude receive his bike in Cripple Creek in 2017. She had heard a little bit about the organization from Jody Peterson but seeing the presentation to Gunny Claude really inspired her to get involved. She understood how being off her bike for two years affected her life in such a negative way she wanted to make sure our severely wounded veterans get back into the wind. This year she is looking forward to traveling to Ontario, CA to attend the unveiling of Jed Morgan's bike. Of course I'm sure she will spend some time in front of the hotel in our merchandise tent.

Karen is also involved with Women in the Wind (WITW) Rocky Mountain Chapter and attends the WITW Winter & Summer Internationals.
