High water has come and gone. As of Monday, June 26th, the flows will return to 500 cfs down from a high of 4,600 cfs. The fishing during high water was a lot of "trash" rigs and lots of lead. I haven't seen a riser since March 16th and I anxiously look forward to having dry fly rods in the boat again. As the flow drops the fish have gotten buggier, and those who fished during high water will appreciate the ease of casting lighter rigs. We are all looking forward to the flows on the San Juan to finally stay consistent. We're anticipating excellent bug and dry fly fishing this summer.
If you're in the Denver area, I will be giving a presentation on July 28th, "a Guide's Approach to the Water", and a casting clinic the following day. For more information click HERE
August is surprisingly open currently, but the month will fill. Please reach out ASAP if you're thinking of an August trip.
