Hey there and welcome to our first issue! We are excited to launch this newsletter which we hope will inform and inspire you on how to achieve well-being for you, your family, and the community at large.

What We’re Up To

Club activities will continue this month. The Kids Club theme is My Feelings, where the focus is on helping kids manage their emotions. The workshop is scheduled for Saturday February 27 at 2 pm.

 

The STARs Club will continue to explore social-emotional learning with Sister Jummy. They will focus on the Be Unique, Be You chapter in the Big Life Journal. Club meeting dates are Saturday February 6 and 20.

 

The Senior STARs will pick back up on the Financial Literacy theme with Brother Hamzat. There will be a special focus on understanding credit, investment, and the stock market (how timely 😃 ). Club meeting dates are Sunday February 7 and 21.

 

 

We are now on a hiking streak! Yes, you heard right!!! The SISTERS' Monthly Hiking Group is now active! The February hike will be on Saturday Febrauary 13 at the Railroad Bed and Otter Point Trail Loop of the Western Ridge Trail in Washington, DC. The trail is an "easy" (per difficulty rating) 2.6 miles long that allows you to explore part of the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. Hiking is limited to 6 females and all hikers must register (use link below) and abide by all COVID-19 precautions.

Community Events

We will be relaunching the Virtual Brunch series on maternal and child health. This month's topic is: Self-care on Your Journey Through Motherhood. Public Health expert, Ramotalai Coker, and Dr. Fontaine, a doula and founder of Peaceful Earth Graceful Birth will co-facilitate the discussion around mental health well-being in motherhood.
