What is a Start-Up Museum?

The Couture Pattern Museum is a private, newly organized museum, being constructed in phases.

Phase 1

Phase 1: Collecting

Decades of careful research and curating were required to gather, collect, and build the extensive collection currently maintained by the Couture Pattern Museum.

“Fashion after all, is magic and miracle...intended to bestow proportion and beauty where both have been lost or faded with the years".

- Charles James -

Phase 2

Phase 2: Digitizing and Preserving

The Couture Pattern Museum is currently working on phase 2: the careful preservation and digital archiving of fragile and deteriorating tissue paper. This is a race against time. By digitizing the patterns, the original envelope art, information found in the instructions, and pattern pieces, are being carefully and accurately digitally preserved for future generations. All digital preservation is being done to the highest current level of industry standards.

Phase 3

Phase 3: Access

The Couture Pattern Museum is not currently providing public access to any of the archived patterns. In the future, we plan to present educational courses and instructions that will make certain select patterns available for educational purposes. We will announce any such release to the public and to all of our subscribers.

Thank you for your support and interest in the museum's mission, as we diligently preserve patterns in phase 2.

Warm Regards,

Cara Austine
