Members Only Stuff

It's Saturday, April 13, 2024. The bad news is that for the past week the lower portions of sections B and D have been devastated by flooding from Slippery Rock Creek, and the water is still here. The good news it is that the staff and members of the campground have risen to the challenge and are providing support to those who have been affected. A special thanks goes out to all those assisting in the clean-up of the mess caused by Mother Nature.

Many members refer to Slippery Rock Campground (SRCA) as their "Happy Place". When they drive through the gate, their only concern is do they have enough food and drink in the fridge, and will the rain hold off so they can have a fire and roast some hot dogs. Their quest for knowledge may be limited to the weekly calendar of events or the status of a recently submitted work order or permit.

Other members share their enthusiasm for the SRCA experience, but they also are interested in the inner workings of the Association. What's the Board doing? How are we doing financially? Are the best interest of the members being served.

There are any number of pages included on the website to provide information to the members, calendars, For Sale or Rent Listings, Board meeting minutes, financial statements, FAQ, but to expand the availability of information, a new function is being added, the Library.

The Library contains documents that can be divided into three categories. First, there are documents that are unique to individual members, work orders, incident reports, violations or permits. These documents can only be viewed by the individual member. The member is able to add a document through the Library or just monitor the progress of a document that has been added by the office staff.

Second, there are documents that address questions presented by members to Board members, the office or as part of the Good of The Order. The question and the response will be included as a document and the member is able to search the documents using key words. If the member has a question on the Annual Budget or the golf league schedule, they can see if the question has been asked before or the question can be added as a new document. An archive of Board motions back to the mid 1990's is also included in this category.

The third group of documents relate to SRCA business activity. As proposed spending actions are developed by the various committees, this activity will be documented. Then, if the Board approves a resolution for the action, the resolution will be recorded and activity on the resolution will be added.

The overall objective of the Library is to make information available to the members. Not every member will feel the need to visit the Library, but it will be there just in case.

If you plan on visiting the Library, it may be worthwhile to scan the instructions first. They can be found by clicking Read me first or by clicking the Need Help on the web page.

Note: Because of the amount information presented in each document, viewing on a laptop is recommended.

Please forward any comments, questions or suggestions to the webmaster.

The next Board meeting is on Sunday, April 21 at 1:00 pm in the rec hall.

Last year, there were over 14,000 unique visitors who viewed the website more than 34,000 times. And the most often visited section of the website is the page displaying the For Sale or Rent listings. In the past 30 days, 81 copies of the listing have been downloaded by visitors.

Any member can list their membership/trailer on this page as an item for sale or rent. There is no charge for submitting a listing, and as you can see from the numbers, there are quite a few visitors interested in Slippery Rock Campground who will see your listing.

You can stop at the office to activate your listing, or it is possible to provide the information for the listing through this page on the website. You can also upload pictures or supporting documents as well. To see how it works, click here.

Some Reminders

Committees Are Active

Camping season is about to get started, and there are lots of activities, swimming at the pool, bon fires, and much more that are just around the corner. If you think about it, keeping our campground running requires a lot of work. Much of it is provided by volunteers. This might be a good time to consider volunteering.

You can sign up through the website on the Park Management page. Just submit the Committee Request Form referenced on the page, and you are ready to go. Just think about it.

Criminal Check for Volunteers

The Association has a policy whereby each volunteer who is involved with children must complete the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Check for Volunteers. There is no charge for this process. For further instructions on completing the form, click below.

Keep In Touch

The Association makes every effort to keep you informed. The office sends emails and voicemails periodically to announce time-sentive information. Email blasts, like this one, are generated to give you updates on what's going on. As a Members Only subscriber on the website, you have access to Association information including Board meeting minutes, financials and other items related to Association management. So if your neighbor is getting notices that you are not, then chances are the information we have on file is not current. If you'd like us to check your information, please submit your current information through the Contact Us page on the website with a note to confirm contact information. Be sure to include your lot number.
