Connecting The Dottes Interns Gain Valuable Insights
By Jegna Klub Intern Rashad Wright & Levi Lee
In the fast-paced world of job and workforce development, the Jegna Klub's Connecting The Dottes Internship Program stands out for its commitment to equipping young individuals not just to enter the workforce but to thrive within it. At the heart of this mission is the focus on Core Employable Skills, a crucial aspect emphasized during the program's monthly professional development sessions.
The program collaborates with the Black Achievers Society of Greater KC to bring in industry professionals to engage with the interns on pertinent topics. The spotlight for December's session was "Time Management", presented by Maurice Gay, Interim EEO/ADA Manager at Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.
Reflecting on the experience, Coach Keyz, a program facilitator, remarked, "The session was very informative. Even for someone actively involved in other professional development, I found Maurice's insights and strategies to be valuable. His straightforward approach resonated well with the interns, fostering a highly engaging environment. Overall, it was a great experience."
Rashad Wright, a Connecting The Dottes Intern, expressed his positive takeaways from the session. "Mr. Gay was a cool man; he opened up to me and Coach Keyz. I liked how he taught, and I enjoyed the assignment. I learned that managing time is crucial not just for keeping track of daily activities but also for staying focused. Sometimes, you have to fit in time for something important that wasn't initially in your plan."
This session not only provided practical tools for effective time management but also fostered meaningful connections between the interns and industry professionals who share similar backgrounds. The Connecting The Dottes Internship Program continues to be a beacon for comprehensive job preparation, ensuring that its participants not only get in the door but also thrive within the professional realm.
