A resource for students and teachers, a quote to inspire, and a question to ponder. It really is the little things we do consistently that lead to great outcomes.
#1) When you learn with the intention to teach it later, you learn more deeply
#2) Teaching something reveals gaps in your knowledge
#3) The more you can teach it to a toddler, the more you know it
#4) Teaching naturally takes advantage of spaced repetition
#5) Teaching naturally takes advantage of the "testing effect"
#6) Teaching makes you accountable
#7) Teaching gives you feedback
Tip for students
Think of three different people that you can practice teaching something you are learning. This can be a language, instrument, how to cook something, or a complex topic. After teaching the first person, observe what you are able to explain easily and what you aren't. Then teach it to the next person and then to the next person. Observe how your understanding and ability to teach the new concept have improved.
Share and discuss the resources presented in the Collaborative Framework document with colleagues towards developing a community of teaching practice. Also consider applying one of the team teaching methods presented in the guide.
Quote
