nothing I'd rather do

I've had a lot of different jobs. I've sold commercial real estate, worked for cities, run a chamber of commerce - all kinds of things. But I've never had as much fun as I'm having writing and publishing books and helping other writers tell their stories (I'm a book and publishing book coach as well as an author).

Writing novels and seeing readers' reactions to them through reviews and at in-person events is a dream come true. Honestly, I am astounded - and filled with joy - at the reactions to my novels.

In some ways, I wonder why it took me so long to start my writing career, especially since I was a creative writing major back in the day. When I take something on - job, family, volunteer work - I'm all in, and for years I focused on those other areas.

Now that I'm retired, my creative fire has been lit and is raging. I spend hours every day writing, revising, publishing, marketing - and I love it. I'm my own boss, only have to worry about my ideas, and set my own pace. The idea part of it - creating worlds out of nothing but air and pixels - comes from all those years I didn't write. While I was busy living, the stories were building inside me. Thanks for going on this journey with me and reading my novels - without readers, a book is just an idea. You make it real.

thank you & winners

Thanks for all the candy advice! I've bought some individually wrapped dark chocolates, and I'm also getting some individually wrapped sugar-free peppermint Lifesavers.

I also appreciated the answers to my travel questions. The place I'd most like to visit is Copenhagen, Denmark. My niece studied abroad there and her photos were spectacular. Congratulations to the winners who will receive a free, signed copy of Five Tries to Get It Right.

early reivews

The early reviews for Five Tries to Get It Right are coming in!

I'd love it if you'd leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads.
