SAYING G'DAY

 

Recently we said Hi to Noah Billios one of our junior

umpires who went to live in Scotland a few years ago with his mum Wilhelmina. Noah was a very keen young umpire!   Both him and mum were regulars at training and at the footy. 

 

When Noah left for Scotland, there was no way he was anywhere near as tall as Jamesie!! 

Was great to have you both get in touch while back visiting Townsville, and Noah great to have you umpire while here!  Glad to see you

wanting to keep your hand in at umpiring! 

We also had Matty Wheelahan come visit and he got to umpire with his dad "Wheels" Gerard Wheelahan.

 

We also watched Matty grow from a young kid with loads of enthusiasm to a young man.  Matty then moved to Brisbane to further his umpiring career and work prospects.  Matty, great to see you back for a visit.

We always love to see former AFLTUA umpires visit us again.  Its awesome you stay in touch.  So anytime former umpires are in town, please pop in and say g'day.

MER CHANDISE UPDATE 

This year our AFLTUA membership includes a water bottle, thanks to our sponsors TAG.  So if you are a financial member of AFLTUA you are elligible to get one. If you want your name on the bottle, please let Pieta know via email or message - the name you would like and which number font you would like (pic on right below).

Book this date in.  Our annual awards night has been set for 17 September 2022.

 

Planning is underway and we will update details when they are locked in. 

 

All are welcome - families, partners, friends! Financial/life members are eligible for awards and subsidised tickets!! Social membership will get you a complimentary ticket!

 

Come along and celebrate the groups achievements.

Part of our awards night is the Doug Pearce Club Person of the Year.  We want people to start thinking about who they might vote for. Only members are eligible to be voted for. Forms, a list of members, and a voting box will be available at training soon or you can vote electronically here.

 

And of course, don't forget to keep the Far Kup nominations rolling in !

FROM THE COMMITTEE/RUM

  • The annual Get Fit Expo will be 31 July from 10am til 2pm.  AFLTUA will have a stand, so if anyone wants to spend an hour or two helping spread the word about umpiring, that would be great. Details are here
  • We have received a response to our 2022 MOU updates from AFLQ.  Most have been agreed to.  Small wins, but wins nonetheless.
  • Uniforms - if you have not ordered this years uniform or ordered and not received your items, you will be receiving an email from our RUM.  AFLQ are requiring us all to be dressed with the same sponsors.  Our grace period is coming to an end.
