FUNDRAISER FOR A BAT MITZVAH

Last month was a busy month for Aylas Geller’s cousin Sadie focusing on her Bat Mitzvah project . She chose doing several fund raising events for the Foxp1 foundation which included a tag sale, lemonade stand, an email soliciting donations and explaining the syndrome and how it has affected her cousin Ayla and her family,and a sale at her temple. Grandma Susan and Pop Pop Joe, aunt Maren and uncle Eli all joined her efforts with donations! Friends and family came together and had a great time.

In addition, another cousin of Ayla , Reece ,with the support of her two grandmas both named “Susan” ( yes all the grandmas are Susan) did her Bat Mitzvah project by soliciting donations for the foundation!

To our amazement these efforts have raised over $10,000!!

We can all use this as an inspiration for ways to support our kids through the foundation. Hope you all plan a fundraising event in the future to celebrate and support the foundation and our children!  An easy opportunity is the fundraising option on Facebook.  You can set up your own fundraiser (under Community Resources, Fundraisers) to share with family and friends.

BI-MONTHLY ZOOM CHAT

The International FOXP1 foundation hosts a bi-monthly zoom chat for friends and family of FOXP1.  They are informal chats, led by the participants, on what every topic those individuals want to talk about.  The discussions have been very helpful in sharing information and stories about our Foxes, their development and coping strategies for caretakers.  They have also provided our Foxes the opportunity to say hi to one another!  If you are interested in joining the zoom, you can register and RSVP right on our website, under Join Us, Events. RARE-X DATA COLLECTION PROGRAM

The data collection program is still going strong and several more of our families have enrolled since last month.  Thank you to those who have taken the time to enroll and help move research forward.  We now have 40 families who have enrolled. As of now, the US is leading enrollment with 18 families, and the UK closely behind with 6 (as shown with the graph pictured).  It would be great to see a bigger scope of our families throughout the world.  Canada has 3, with France, Brazil, and Denmark closely followed with 2 each.  

If you are still unsure about why you should enroll in our data collection program, one big incentive is that having a robust database will enable the International FOXP1 Foundation to generate more interest from clinicians, researchers, and pharmaceutical developers to research, test, and develop drugs, therapies, and a FOXP1 natural history study.
