School Board Update ROAR made a statement at the 12/16 board meeting that can be viewed here or read here . In regards to our statement the AD of CHS has maintained the behavior was "normal" and did not take responsibility despite complaints from those in attendance and from people who viewed footage after the game. |

Meaningful Ways to Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day |

|
- Read Letter from Birmingham Jail
- Visit Black Enterprise for a age breakdown of videos and resources, something for everyone!
- Encourage young adults to peacefully protest or boycott something they are passionate about.
- Check out these groups making a difference: Sunrise Movement, Talk Poverty, Indigenous People's Movement, March for Our Lives, Black Lives Matter, Standing Rock and the Women's March.
- Attend MLK Breakfast 1/20 at the Chaska Event Center

- Ask your child's teacher what is being taught about MLK in the classroom
- Ask if your employer has diversity and inclusion training available for staff
- Volunteer as a family IE: Feed My Starving Children or Launch Ministry
- Go beyond "I Have a Dream"
- Teach about MLK Jr. ALL YEAR. His history and impact deserves more than a day of learning. He tackled not only segregation and racism but gendered stereotypes, poverty and privilege.

Parents & Community - Celebrate MLK Day with meaning
- What are you doing to be an ally and advocate for racial equity in your school?
- Ask how your children feel when racism occurs. Ask what they did to stop it and how they supported the victim.
- We would love to showcase another school "doing the work". If you know a school that is going above and beyond in racial equity work please let us know.
