UAW FEEDS THE HOMELESS It's that time of the year, the holidays are rolling around and the year is coming to an end. Families are taking time to spend together but there are so many people in Los Angeles that have no family or home to speak of. Upward African Woman and its amazing volunteers pounded the streets of Skid Row in the rain on Thanksgiving Morning, delivering hot meals, fruit and hygiene items to residents in their tents. Thank you Team UAW!!! |

Upward African Woman recently hosted its 5th Annual Gala, “Providing Pathways to Success,” in Beverly Hills. Recording artist Chante Moore performed and was a guest speaker at the event. The other amazing speakers included Linda Wallace, Abraham Carons and Peter Nwosu. The night was filled with African cultural delights: food from Nigeria, Ethiopia and Kenya; amazing Congolese dancers as well as Ethiopian coffee freshly brewed and served traditionally. Artist Bolaji Adeleye created amazing one of a kind master pieces to raise funds for the organizations. Actress Nathalie Beasnael was the graceful emcee. |

The event culminated in awards; Upward African Woman was acknowledged by the City of Beverly Hills, City of Los Angeles' Mayor Eric Garcetti and City Council President, Herb Wesson with beautiful Certificates for the work we ar doing in the community. We are especially thankful to all of our sponsors: Attain Health, Bolden, Samuel Akinboro, Skin Essence, Guard Pack, Wally Bakare, Kairu Consulting, Coquette Kouture, Bella Vila for making the event possible. A special thanks to our volunteers, most especially our youth volunteers who worked tirelessly all day. We thank each guest for attending and supporting, and we look forward to a blessed 2020. All funds raised go towards our programs both in the US and Africa. |
