The Spirit of Christmas

The last year that both of my kids were living at home, I did a take on ‘The 12 Days of Christmas.’  Every morning leading up to Christmas there was one thing in their stocking and they had to suffer through me singing “🎶On the ___ Day of Christmas, my Mommy gave to me…🎶” to get it. (Insert teenage eye-rolls here, Ha!) This year I decided to do that again for our tiny human. Christmas is such an exciting and magical time for kids, and it’s SO hard to wait for Christmas Day to open presents, especially day when you don’t understand the concept of time! I wrapped up a handful of small gifts, matchbox cars, and dollar store items, and placed then in a basket with a plan to let him pick out one a day.  On the first day, he joyful picked out his toy, played with it for a minute, then grabbed my hand and said, “You open one too.” I tried explaining that ‘No, they were all for him’ but he continued to looked at me imploringly and said, “But why? You need a present too.” The Christmas Spirit was truly shining at me through his little eyes…thinking about others, putting others' happiness before our own, selflessness, and a giving heart. I hope your Christmas is as blessed and merry as mine has already been.

Two nites in a row I got to hang out at the Flower Barn RVA. We had a full house both nites. It was fun meeting everyone & helping those attending create some amazing wreaths!
