Newsletter in English
After all the rain of the last few weeks, we are longing for some sun, do you feel the same?
However, we invite everyone to go outside into nature with a raincoat and boots! This won't make you sick, in fact our brain and body actually need daylight to stay fit and in good spirits. This is extra important, especially in autumn when the days are shorter.
Late morning, early afternoon is the best time to go outside, preferably for 30 minutes daily.
We realize that some of our patiënts suffer from illness or limitations that may make this impossible, but make sure you have open curtains, a chair or bed by the window and some birdseed in the garden or on the balcony and reflect on the autumn colors and birds.
And extra important this season: don't forget your vitamin D if you need it. Does this apply to you? You can read more on this website:
Vitamine D | Thuisarts.nl
Do you suffer from autumn blues?

Summer at De Duinen
Although it was a challenge to get through the first summer(holidays) with a GP practice with the holidays of our small team, we are happy to say we coped well.
We hope that it did not cause any inconvenience to you. We did however, have our first telephone issues during the summer. This may have affected you, we apologize for this and thank you for your understanding.
Professionalisation
After our start-up phase, we are now working on further professionalizing our practice. We do this with an independent agency, such a process is called "accreditatie".
One of the most important things for the accreditatie is your opinion!
Would you like to help us by completing our questionnaires?
The grey buttons up above lead you to the Dutch versions (vragenlijst). We have English versions on paper at the practice.
Whodunnit?
A theft occurred during the summer holidays. That this happened while we work so hard with few resources to make this new practice a success leaves us really sad.
If you know anything about it, we would like to hear from you.
If you are the perpetrator and have remorse, you can always return it. If you need help with your financial situation, we would gladly discuss things with you.
It is important to know that we never have ready money in the practice. We are extra vigilant and have taken extra security measures.
Flu shots
The flu shot evening was a great success. If you missed the flu shot evening or did not receive an invitation but you do have an indication for it, we still have a few shots left.
Send us a message and we will contact you for an appointment. If you have an appointment for something else, you can also request the flu shot.
Renovation
We will be renovating soon. The hope is to realize 3 new consultation rooms, a first aid room and a lab space by early 2024. This requires a major renovation.
During the renovation we will temporarily work in other spaces. This is expected to take about 7 weeks. We will keep you updated on the details.
New teammembers
We are happy to introduce some new teammembers!
Ruud de Mol started as a POH-GGZ. He is a psychologist, lives with his family in Leiden and is a real go-getter because he does HIIT (we had to look this up: High Intensity Interval Training).
He will help people with mild psychological complaints. If you are currently visiting your GP for consultations, we may transfer you to Ruud for treatment.
Ruud will work on Monday. Until the renovation is completed, he will work in a room down stairs.
Florian, you may have already met; he is our new doctor's assistant. He is a medical student, lives in Leiden and loves rowing. He has completed the first phase of his medical training and is waiting for the start of his internships and can therefore assists us on Wednesdays and Fridays in the coming year.
After the renovation, Marian Hofstede will join our team, originally a nurse, she will return to work as a doctor's assistant. After living in Aruba with her family for a few years, she is now back in Noordwijk and we are happy that she will be working with us!
Interns (co-assistenten in Dutch)
To contribute to a new generation of doctors, we have interns working in our practice. They are training to become doctors. The GP internship is one of the last internships for them, this is where everything comes together.
If you have an appointment with us, the intern may conduct the interview and examination.
The GP will always discuss this with the intern, think about the findings and treatment and, if necessary, repeat the examination.
We would like to make them enthusiastic about our great profession! Will you help us to do so?
If you do not want to be seen by the intern, you may always indicate this. (preferably already whilst making the appointment)
Reaching our practice
The assistants operate the telephone and the desk from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, with the exception of break times.
The English menu is reached by dialing 8.
It may happen on occasions that the assistant is unable to attend because of sickness or private matters, we ask you then to do as much as possible online.
The waiting room is open from 9:00 am.
The general practitioners answer the telephone themselves between 8:00 and 9:00 am and are only available for urgent questions that cannot wait until 9:00 am. We cannot make appointments in that time.
If you are unable to attend or are late, you do not need to call us between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, but simply send us a message and we will call you back later.
No shows
Not coming for an appointment is quit disruptive.
This happens so often nowadays that we decided to charge a fine.
You can call us, send us an MGN message or an email, at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel.
If you cancel less than 24 hours (or not at all), we will charge a penalty of 25 euros.
On Home - MijnGezondheid.net you can also set how and how often you want to receive reminders of your appointments. These are extra reminders, but always put your appointment in your own agenda as well.
Tips from De Duinen
• There is a lot of fun to do through the Welfare Quarter. For example, workshops or social gatherings. But youth work, help for informal caregivers and volunteer work are also organized through them. Take a look at:
Home (welzijnskwartier.nl)
• Would you like to exercise more but you are not sure what suits you, you can ask the neighborhood sports coaches for advice:
Buurtsportcoaches – Sportbedrijf Noordwijk
• Are you facing problems and could you use help with them? Do this in time before the problems become too big. For example, in the field of childraising, finances, housing and much more, you can get help at:
