City Council and School Board Candidates Respond to GALA Questionnaire

Early voting for Municipal Elections in many North Texas cities including Frisco, Allen, Sachse, Wylie, Prosper, and Little Elm begins tomorrow.

EARLY VOTING

April 23rd - April 28th   8 AM - 5 PM
April 28th - May 1st     7 AM - 7 PM

ELECTION DAY

Tuesday, May 5th    7 AM - 7 PM

In these elections you will be voting for City Council Members and School Board Trustees.  The individuals elected to these offices play a very important role in shaping our communities.  A City Council that is welcoming and inclusive can set a tone for the whole city as was seen when Plano passed their Equal Rights Ordinance.  Also, in the last few months issues in several school districts have shown how important it is that elected officials are willing to have discussions with our community.

Each election cycle GALA sends out questionnaires to gather information on issues important to the LGBT+ community and those who care about us.  We included some new cities this year and can see that we still have work ahead of  us to grow awareness of GALA and LGBT+ issues.  In Plano, Frisco, and McKinney we receive a high percentage of survey responses but this was not the case in the cities we reached out to in 2018.  We will strive to become more visible in these cities and you can help by coming out to your neighbors, business owners and elected officials.  If we can ever help you begin these conversations please reach out to the GALA Board of Directors.
