MARCH NEWSLETTER

It's been a busy month for me in terms of conferences and CPD - I've visited Devon, Kettering and Birmingham, and learned a lot.

I had my second observation for TAM and my reflections are here.

My #MathsConf14 blog is available here and I've already booked my ticket for Manchester.

I wrote an article about creative lesson ideas (not maths specific) a while ago for a magazine that wasn't published. I've posted it on my blog here if you're interested.

Over Easter I'm hoping to do a lot of work on Statistics and Mechanics and those resources will appear on the website over the next few months (too late for this year, but I'm keen to polish them before sharing!).

As well as…

Marigolds of Magic

Following @TessMaths' workshop at MathsConf14, I created this PowerPoint to show my year 11s this timestables shortcut. I'll only use it as a last resort, but it's hopefully helped them to succeed somewhere that they haven't before.

Exit Tickets

Following support from @JemMaths, we've stared using exit tickets to give our students more useful and regular feedback. I've already written a blog about them, and the tickets I've created so far can be found below.

The Revision Zone

Brand new area dedicated to revision resources, some maths, some general. Probably quite useful at this time of year!

Website of the Month: Integral

Since embarking on the MEI Teaching Advance Maths course, I've started using the Integral resources more and more in my A Level teaching. They're great for supporting Dave Hewitt's idea of necessary and arbitrary maths as they are largely aimed at discovery learning. Lots of resources are available for free, but the subscription is also brilliant value for money.
