Words from the President Golf Hammock’s post Hurricane Irma repairs and clean-up ended in January. The remaining storm debris along Par Road was removed and the swale restoration work associated with Duffer Road and the 9th Tee Court sink hole were completed. There are still several drainage projects budgeted for 2018 and as we set the schedule with the contractor we intend to communicate via the newsletter and shout-outs possible impacts. Volunteers help the HOA save money and opportunities provide valuable insight into HOA activities. This past month volunteers decorated the front entrance for Valentine's day and others repainted the traffic markings at each of our speed tables. Any time you have to offer is appreciated as there are many projects and committees that can use your help. The year is just starting off and we look forward to making progress against existing plans. Thank you for choosing to live here and supporting the Board’s attempt to keep Golf Hammock a desirable place to live. George Kibe President GHOA |

Words from the Secretary It has been a very busy month for me, taking on new responsibilities, trying to understand things of the past as well as new ideas that have been brought to my attention as secretary and chairperson for the newsletter/website (communications). First and foremost I am so appreciative of all the positive feedback I received both through phone calls and emails regarding the newsletter. The newsletter is an instrument used to pass along positive, good neighbor type pieces of information. Moving forward, my goal is that everyone within our community knows that they have a place to get information regarding our association, a website that has been recently updated and the knowledge and opportunity to attend monthly board meetings to be informed and engaged within our community. Once again, I remind everyone to register your email address so you can receive all newsletters and shouts outs directly into your email account. I will be working trying to make this as informative as possible. I, along with our web professional, have set up some timeline guidelines to follow so everyone is on the same page. If you feel that you may have something newsworthy, positive and for the betterment of our community please let me know as soon as possible, however, no later than the 15th of the month. At that point, we evaluate its contents to see if it can be inserted into the format that has been created. The sooner you know that you might have something the better chances you will have getting into the newsletter. Again, the newsletter’s purpose is for anything of interest from various social activities, reminders of the rules and regulations to up and coming community events that perhaps our neighbors would be interested in getting some information about. Once again, please reach out to me at debsteuer@yahoo.com if you have any questions or concerns and I can try to help you the best I can otherwise I will do my best to forward it on to someone that can further assist you. I look forward toward another month. Thank you for your support. Deb Steuer |

Activity Center News! Regularly Scheduled Happenings at the Activity Center: Mah Jongg Tuesday and Fridays 9:30 am – 12:30 pm Tuesday Game Night 7:00 pm – 2nd, 3rd, 4th Tuesday Book Club 7:00 pm – 3rd Wednesday of the month The Activity Center is open once again! There were some delays with carpet however it is completed along with a fresh coat of paint! A recent set of guidelines for the use of the activity center are available on the website and are posted on the bulletin board inside the activity center. If you are interested in using this area look over the guidelines. If you have questions please call Linda Fisher 863-658-1389. The Library located inside the activity center is OPEN! New to us shelving was purchased and books are ready. If you have any books that you would like to donate please hold on to them until next month. Donations at that time will be appreciated. The library will no longer be taking magazines at this time. A crafter’s showcase was held for the first time in the activity center. It was organized and carried out in a very short amount of time with great success and positive feedback. What is a crafter’s showcase you might ask...It is a place where featured crafters are gathered, displaying their craft and attendees can ask questions and visit with each other as well as the crafter. It is a “no money” exchanged event, however if you are interested in purchasing from the crafter, arrangements can be made off site. It would be a great idea to see something like this done quarterly and are looking for people interested in possibly being featured as well as someone to help organize these type events. I don't think there will be a shortage of people willing to be featured. This could lead to some instructional opportunities as well in the activity center. There are lots of possibilities with events such as this. We look forward to feedback you might have regarding crafting activities or instructional opportunities within the GHOA community. Any idea you think that might benefit our community while utilizing the activity center would be appreciated such as blood drives, security awareness, health and wellness to name a few. |

Volunteers Needed! We are looking for volunteers to serve on a Charter/Bylaws Updating Committee, preferably but not necessarily with legal experience as an attorney, paralegal, legal secretary, or with political science training and otherwise with a willingness to help us analyze the present make-up of the HOA's rules of governance, and study HOA Model Rules. Contact John Huber at huberlaw8804@gmail.com. Trash Cans!!! - The county issued large trash containers to comply with environmental and newly adopted policies regarding trash collection. The initial reaction by our community was generally negative. During the initial issuing time the board elected to suspend compliance with the overseeing article. This would allow residents the opportunity to adjust to the new containers and their proper storage to comply with Article 9.
- The February 12, 2018 board meeting voted to activate Article 9 compliance requirements. A recent survey of the community reflected a number of residents still have not taken the initiative to achieve compliance. The violation/complaint committee will distribute a flyer to property owners in violation. These property owners are encouraged to take the required actions to comply.
- Compliance can be achieved using various methods of screening such as lattice, block or various landscaping with a hedge or shrubs. One option for garage storage is exchange the cans for smaller containers – contact the garbage company for those options.
- Having the trash containers sitting in plain view, such as in the front of the garage, or on the side of the house is not acceptable and such be corrected immediately. Flyers will be distributed by the end of February 2018 and official violation letters with begin in March.
- The committee/board hopes each property owner wishes to help maintain our community appearance and reputation.
- Remember looking trashy has a negative effect on the attraction and the salability of our community.
If you have questions or concerns please contact Bob Schroeder, violations/complaints chairman at 863-402-5486 or email bobs1501@outlook.com ARTICLE 9 GARBAGE AND TRASH REMOVAL No garbage, refuse or rubbish shall be kept on any lot. All areas for the deposit, storage or collection of garbage or trash shall be substantially shielded or screened from neighboring property or common areas, including the golf course. |
