A regular newsletter from Saskatchewan fibre artist, Shelly Nicolle-Phillips
with Hooked on the Prairies
Welcome to my first ever newsletter! Thanks you so much for signing up! You might have noticed I called this a "regular" newsletter. Considering it's taken me years to start, I'm not sure how frequent these will be but I wanted to check off one of my 2024 goals which was to start a newsletter. I hope to have some interesting tidbits to share with you in the coming months!
What does Woolgathering mean? Well, it's a term from the sixteenth-century term for the act of collecting loose tufts of wool caught on thorns and fences by passing sheep. The more modern day interpretation of it is a phrase that means daydreaming. which I do a lot of when rug hooking! I thought it was an appropriate term to use for my newsletter.
Prairie Alphabet Project
If you've been following me on social media, you likely saw my Prairie Alphabet. It is a project that I started in 2021 that took me over two years to complete. It was inspired by my interest in learning more about the precious grasslands found in Saskatchewan. You can learn more about the project by clicking on the button below.
Regina was a winter wonderland this past week! After a heavy fog, the trees all around the city were covered in this beautiful frost.
Do you want to see what I'm working on? Be sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram to see what's on my frame. I post almost daily there. This week I hooked this little chickadee!
