23 February 2023.

Message from Andrea

Our school values sit behind many of the things we do at Titirangi Primary School. You may see them reflected in the signage around the school, they appear when we talk about tamariki on Hero and they are on our website. That’s where you will see them sit on the surface, but we want to do more than this - we want to live our values. We want them reflected in everything that staff and students do.

Ako Tahi - we are all learning together.

We have started the year with ‘Meet the Teacher’. We want to work with whanau collaboratively to ensure student success. We want healthy, happy, engaged and kind students. We know how important it is for schools to work with families to achieve this. Please keep in touch and if you have any worries or concerns, get in touch.

Manaakitanga we are kind and respectful to others and our environment.

We really want to encourage our students to support each other and to show kindness whenever they have the opportunity. A small team of teachers and school leaders were lucky enough to attend professional development for the ‘Mitey’ programme that runs in the school, developed by The John Kirwan Foundation. This programme is all about promoting well-being and developing the skills to take care of our own mental health. If our students have a strong sense of self and strategies to cope with challenging situations, this will take them far. This has never been more apparent, as we find ourselves navigating the stresses of the last few weeks.

Whanaungatanga - we build positive relationships so everyone feels connected and knows they have a place to stand.

This is one of the most important goals for the year - ensuring our relationships with students and whanau are strong and that those that are part of our community have a sense of belonging. We hope you will all join us for our Term 1 Picnic on Thursday 23rd March. We want our students to feel that sense of belonging, to feel valued. We also want you as caregivers to feel welcomed and embraced. We will be looking for opportunities to build these relationships throughout the year.

We want to inspire every learner to thrive and succeed.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koe.

Andrea

Our 2023 Road Patrol Team

Road Patrol for 2023 is underway! The Year 5 & 6 students that have put their hand up demonstrate what it means to be Responsible, Respectful and Reliable - and all done with a firm voice.

They role model our school values - and ensure the safety of all the school community at our crossing.

Constable Carl has carried out training and will be back again and he is very impressed with the 2023 team!

The road patrollers operate our crossing before school from 8:15 am to 8:50am and after school from 2:50 am until 3.10pm

Please help our Road Patrollers to keep all our children safe by ensuring that when dropping off and picking up your children you avoid the following…

  • Leaving cars unattended in the drop off zone - please follow the 2min guidelines.

  • Blocking the traffic flow on the roundabout

  • Double parking at the drop off zone

  • Parking on yellow lines or in a position that makes the student patrollers’ job dangerous

  • Performing three point turns or U turns

  • Parking over the school driveway, or driving down the school driveway for drop-offs or pick-ups

Please be patient and kind with our children who are up on road patrol every morning and afternoon rain, hail and shine.

We appreciate the service they are doing for our school.
