Say Hello Wave Goodbye
Chances are by the time you read this Janus the god of doorways will be back in charge, if not he is standing in the wings waiting for his cue. I have few traditions but I always raise a glass to the new year to sort of say ‘HI’
You may have a range of thoughts and feelings about the new year. As one year changes to the next you might sigh with relief, be full of excitement and anticipation or be overcome with sadness. It could be that you see the occasion as one day becoming the next just like it does every day. You might not even notice. It could also hold significance for one reason or another. It’s happening, we can’t stop it. The 365 days of 2022 are on their way, lined up and ready to go.
A year ago, I didn’t expect to be doing this. 2021 has been a tale of the unexpected. I have done all sorts of things I never expected – written guest blogs, been interviewed, recorded a poem for the radio, been published in Makarelle (magazine and anthology), been published in an anthology which was published in America, been part of a collective that is trying to write a fictional book using various forms of poetry, joined Allauthor and the Independent Author Network and ended the year as an Indie Book Star in the Indie Stars Bookshop.
I met some fantastic people to add to the fabulous ones I knew already. I have spent more time on Zoom than I could ever imagine.
My resolutions tend to be rather woolly affairs. I usually say I want to be a better person. When someone asked on Twitter what people’s resolutions were I said I wanted to be brave. I am not getting any better at this stuff, am I?
What can you expect from me in 2022?
There will be more of my ramblings here and on my blog, author interviews, book reviews, poetry (always poetry), guest bloggers on my blog, a poetry book and my first short story collection. I am looking for places to send my writing to and if any of them are successful I will let you know.
