Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network of WA (MYAN WA):

COVID-19 response update

In response to COVID-19, the Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network of WA (MYAN WA) is postponing all upcoming forums, working groups and focus groups. We, alongside the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) are prioritising the health, safety and well-being of our employees, volunteers and interns. We have undertaken rigorous actions in our organisation to support the slowing of spread of the virus within the community. We will be restricting meetings to only essential matters and utilising other methods of communication such as phone and email and exploring alternative avenues to conduct business as usual, such as video-conferencing technology.

Despite this situation and the challenges that it poses for us we will still continue to advocate for the rights of young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds in Western Australia.

We hope you understand this and take important precautions to look after yourself. With calm, considerate and empathetic responses we can collectively work through this uncertain time.

If you would like to meet with us, please contact us in advance. We will continue to produce our newsletters, social media content and work on policy and advocacy. In addition, many of our Shout Out speakers are able to present to your organisation or school using Skype or Zoom—please contact us if you would like to explore this opportunity.
