November Meeting

Sister Anna Laura, O.P., principal of St. Cecilia Academy will join us Nov. 14 as our guest speaker with her presentation "Faith Must Become Culture." Sister Anna Laura is a member of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation, and for 22 years she has served in Catholic schools as a teacher and administrator.  For the last 7 years, Sister Anna Laura has been part of building a new private Catholic high school in Houston, Frassati Catholic, where she was instrumental in crafting and implementing the school's signature Ethics and Culture program, which applies Thomistic philosophical principles to contemporary culture. This summer, Sister was named the new principal of St. Cecilia Academy, and she is excited to return home to SCA, which was her very first teaching assignment.

Please make note this month's meeting is the second Wednesday of the month -- Nov. 14 -- due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Dear NCBWL Members,

As we near this Season of Thanksgiving, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your partnership to our mission to support Catholic Education. As mentioned above, our Annual Pearls of Wisdom Luncheon/Auction/Fashion Show fundraising event held on September 15 raised net proceeds after expenses of $35,642.38.

In particular, I would like to thank our event Co-Chairs:

Karen McCoy - Overall Auction Chair

Kathleen Pagel - Auction item spreadsheet management Chair

Barbara Esteves-Moore - Marketing and Communications Chair

The specific award amount will be decided on at our upcoming board meeting on November 7. Following our board meeting, I am hosting a Celebration Dinner for the Co-Chairs and the entire Auction Team as a token of my appreciation. If you are interested in serving with us on this team next year, please feel free to join us next Wednesday, November 7 at 6:30 PM at 9110 Brentmeade Blvd., Brentwood, TN (call me at 615-519-8388 if you need directions.)

“My Dad was a 30-year Navy Veteran and was such an inspiration to me. He and my Mom raised all four of us to be thankful for the freedoms we enjoy, to love our country and to somehow always be a positive influence on our communities,” she said. “In the image of my Dad, I wanted to be a Patriot, serve my country and be able to make a difference.”
