Rally! Season 2, Issue 5: August 2022 |
On the PCA calendar, nothing makes your head spin like the month of August! In a good way! Some teams are still rocking the #PCAPrideTour, performing at parades and festivals to support the LGBTQ+ community. Some teams are starting their #PCATryoutTour with open practices, bootcamps, clinics, tryouts, applications, and interviews to recruit the next generation of performing and nonperforming Charitable Cheerleaders. Some teams managed BOTH the #PCAPrideTour and the #PCATryoutTour this month - why not keep going and growing at the same time! The community cultural calendars are just as diverse. In August, we honored Black August as well as Transgender History Month. We had a #FlashbackFriday on August 12 to 2009, the moment in LGBTQ+ history when President Obama bestowed slain gay rights icon Harvey Milk with a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom. And we celebrated #NationalNonprofitDay on August 17 with a reminder that each PCA Member Teams is a tax-exempt 501c3 Nonprofit, and a call to anyone considering starting a new team to “Let PCA lead the way!” Contact info@pridecheerleading.org if you are interested in developing a Charitable Cheerleading team that is also a 501c3 nonprofit that fundraises for charities that support the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. |

True Colors by CHEER Los Angeles |
(Ok, first a “true story” from PCA: The story of Cheer Los Angeles’s “True Colors” is THE STORY that inspired this whole True Colors series! And the storyteller has a lot to say. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the tales of the Columbia blue, silver, and black, told by Cheer LA Founder, Paul Lee Ruiz.) Cheer Los Angeles (Cheer LA) was originally conceived to provide a philanthropic outlet for adult men and women interested in the sport of cheerleading in the Los Angeles area. Cheer LA volunteers seek to promote awareness, spirit, and diversity in the LGBTQ+ community through dynamic cheer, dance, and stunt performances. Through the generous donations of spectators, Cheer LA has raised over $243,000 for charity in its lifetime as a nonprofit organization. |

Marketing: The new PCA logo has hit the scene! This visual representation of our brand is just the tip of the iceberg. Starting in March 2021, a diverse and talented team of current and former PCA Volunteers embarked upon an entire PCA Rebrand Project. Following “The Brand House” model, PCA is rebuilding the brand from the foundation up. The strongest “Characteristics” of our brand carry on its tradition while also allowing for natural evolution. The house stands tall and unbreakable with four “Pillars of Purpose.” It is held together by a focused and unique “Mission” and aimed for strategic growth by an aspirational “Vision.” The PCA Rebrand Project is in its final stages of refinement, and the complete PCA Brand House will be erected soon! |
