Food emergency in Colombia , Santa Marta, Covid-19

The foundation "Las Raices de las Piedras" was founded at the 13th April in order to support people as the quarantine has led to a situation of vulnerability and starvation among the inhabitants and families from Santa Marta.
The people who live here mainly make their living from tourism and one-day jobs
it means they are given a daily rate only for their work so that they can buy food. So, as they are jobless and have no prospects their lives are endangered. Especially older people and single mothers with children suffer the most in these times. In addition to this there is water shortage as some families don’t have water anymore.
This is the reason we decided to set up the foundation as fast as possible to start providing assistance to the families. It is now very urgent to support them with food packages.
We also help the pets on the streets because they aren’t fed any more. Previously they could get food from restaurants and Hotels which are closed at the moment.
Our superordinated desire is to enable the people of Masinga (Santa Marta) to prepare for possible future crisis' so that they be able to gain more independence by starting to produce their own food. Actually this project wants to give the people competence to get food self-sufficiency.
But before all that mentioned above, our first step is to avoid people dying of starvation. Like this we try to react to people saying that they are rather starving than dying of the virus.
Since the 13th April we've distributed food packages to 150 families (around 600 humans) and ensuring daily-food for the 164 pets living on the streets in Santa Marta and the surrounding area of Sierra Nevada. As the quarantine lasts at least until the end of May there is much more need. That is where you can come in and help us with your financial support.
With only CHF 11 you can ensure that we are able to support 1 family for one week. With CHF 1 in addition you will help out one pet for a week. This means that, if you would spend CHF 48 you make a change for one month. Saving CHF 1.60 a day may not be much for you but it will be a big difference for Masinga.
We feel really grateful for the support you are going to bring us. Any kind of help is welcome. Even the slightest one can work miracles and will be very supportive for our Project.
