The average hard cost to construct the first nine houses, including the foundation and everything above, was around $40,000 per house. We were able to keep costs low by building small and acting as our own contractor. There are four different tiny house designs featured at Cottage Village, of which we've built two so far: |

With so much bad news lately with the pandemic and wildfires, it was a relief to finally celebrate some good news! In person tours were limited to those who RSVP'd for a specific time slot due to Covid-19. The event was also postponed due to the wildfires, and as hazardous air quality lingered in Cottage Grove we were on the cusp of cancelling it altogether. But the day brought much needed rain that cleared the air, marking a celebratory event as nine households experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity were welcomed home. |

Open House Speeches The event included speeches from SquareOne Executive Director, Dan Bryant, SquareOne Board Chair and former Mayor of Eugene, Kitty Piercy, Chair of the Cottage Village Coalition, Bruce Kelsh, Lane County Commissioner Pat Farr, and Mayor of Cottage Grove, Jeff Gowing. Watch some of the highlights below. |
