Masks for Thee but Not for Me

Updated: Feb 23, 2022

For Nancy Gregory, Boise School Board Trustee and Executive Board Member of the Idaho School Board Association (ISBA), the COVID message is "Do as I say, not as I do". Gregory attended the ISBA 2021 Convention indoors and unmasked with over 500 participants from Idaho. Not only did she take advantage of opportunities to be unmasked during a large, indoor event, but she presumably was part of the decision to provide opt out options that, according to some in attendance, were not strictly enforced even though the state hospitals are still under crisis standards of care. Currently the Boise School District has a mask mandate in place which does not honor medical exemptions or provide any opt out opportunities.

Gregory is running for ISBA president in a state that values individual choice and parental authority, yet she does not provide that for the district she serves. According to Idaho Ed News, there are currently 3 districts and 11 public or charter schools (Avery is being counted as a school since it only has 24 students) in the entire state of Idaho still requiring masks (see below). There are 167 districts in Idaho and roughly 1,732 public and private K-12 schools.
