Dear Friends, I hope this finds you well and enjoying these first days of summer. I can't wait to get to a deep blue pool or a soft sandy beach with a good book to dive into. What are you reading? Send me suggestions! I'm currently sitting with Toi Derricotte's latest book, "i" New and Selected Poems. It's been a busy first half of 2019, so many readings and so much joy, and now is the time to sit with my "i" to reflect, breathe, and listen. Looking forward to the up coming events listed below (see you there?) as well as plenty of intentional chill time. Wishing you some, too. Warmly, Amanda |

I had a wonderful time returning to my old poetry stomping grounds at ECTC in Elizabethtown. Kentucky will always be one of my poetry homes and I'm thankful for the people and the space they've kept to celebrate art and support artists. Check out this lovely feature from The News Enterprise.

"Amanda Johnston’s first book sings with the passion of our great warrior poets. They reassure me of a fierce connective tissue between us. Johnston’s poems apply just the right degree of salve and just the right degree of fire to our current American wounds." - Toi Derricotte Bookstore Orders: argushousepress@gmail.com

Cave Canem Foundation is near and dear to my heart. As a fellow and current board member, I know firsthand how Cave Canem supports Black poets with the necessary time, space, and encouragement needed to dream, create, and grow. Thank you for your continued support for this "home for black poetry."
