Medallion Adventure Club

Newsletter #32 - April 5, 2024.

Topic 1 of 6: Having a big idea

Hiking is one of the primary activities of the Medallion Adventure club. It is a great opportunity to get some fresh air and engage in movement and exercise. And it is a happy opportunity to catch up with friends and to meet new future-friends.

In an effort to kick start conversations, we begin hikes by suggesting an icebreaker theme that people discuss as they hike. Recently the theme was "What is your big idea?" I was amazed by the answers that I heard. The one that really sticks with me was provided by a young women I meet for the first time on that hike. Without skipping a beat she responded "I am working to develop a strain of mushrooms to break down plastics into organic matter." In an unassuming yet confident voice, she explained her novel protocol that is from self-study and she is in the process of building a do-it-yourself lab in her basement. Wow. People truly have some big ideas that they are working on below the radar.
