Issue Number 10

September Update

If you are a new subscriber to our Newsletter, we would like to welcome you and thank you for subscribing! There have been a number of changes to our Home since our last newsletter, so please read on.

Digital Care Plans Update

In our last newsletter, we informed you that we were running a pilot for digital care plans to be introduced around the Home.

The pilot was successful and we have began rolling out the software to our Lantern Lounge and will soon also move to our Darcy Lounge.

The software enables us to report incidents, write care plans, record daily notes, food and fluid charts, weight charts and much, much more.

We will be giving further training to all of our staff members to ensure we get the most out of the software, which will lead to a higher level of oversight and improved care within our Home.

We are all very much looking forward to the full rollout of this software.

Website Updates

We recently updated our website and added some new elements to provide even more information and contact methods to you all.

First, we added a 'compliments and complaints' section to the website. You can find this at the top of the page on the left if you are using a laptop or desktop. Alternatively, you can find it at the bottom of the menu page if you are using a mobile.

We added this section to give you more options to provide us with feedback about the care we offer to your family members. If you would like to compliment a specific member of staff/unit, we will make sure they receive the message and they will be rewarded for going above and beyond.

Alternatively, if you would like to make a complaint for any reason, please feel free to complete the form. This is just another avenue given to you to keep in close contact with our team.

We have also added a selection of our policies to the website, which you can find in the menu section. We aim to be as transparent as we are able to be, which is why we have added these policies to our website.

Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions about our compliments and complaints procedure, or our policies.

Vaccination Rules- staff and work persons

In July, we were informed that all care home workers would need to be vaccinated in order to continue their employment. The vast majority of our staff members at Shannon Court are fully vaccinated and have been since March this year.

We are working closely with all of our staff members who are not currently fully vaccinated to achieve full compliance. We have already set our deadlines for feedback and have been holding meetings with hesitant staff members over the last month to encourage an uptake in vaccinations.

We will ensure that we continue running the Home with a full compliment of staff from the cut-off date of 11th November and we are confident we can work with our current staff members to achieve a 100% vaccination rate before the November deadline.

We will also require outside work persons to be fully vaccinated before entering our Home and we will be contacting all of our suppliers/contractors and outside professionals to inform them of our procedures in the next few days.

Please note that family members and visitors are not included in these regulations.

Key dates for our staff to be fully vaccinated can be seen below.

Thank you once again for joining our mailing list. We hope to see you all again soon and stay safe!
