Demonstration of innovative technologies towards a more efficient and sustainable plastic recycling

In the second edition of the polynSPIRE Newsletter, we are polyPROUD to present Alberto Frisa (CIRCE), our project coordinator.

Once the polynSPIRE project has passed the halfway point of its development, the first results are beginning to be seen. It is the first thought of Alberto Frisa, the project coordinator.

In this time the polynSPIRE working team have been developing different technical tasks such as definition and testing of chemical processes focused on recycling, laboratory testing of recycling process, conceptual designs and technical development of industrial systems able to carry out the studied procedures, the management of material flow focused in this project that it will be the starting point of the future of recycling and valorisation of plastic materials. In addition, cross-sectional studies focused on life cycle cost, life cycle analysis and market analysis have shown first results.

These solid advances will allow in the following project stages to be able to demonstrate that a new recycling technology based on sustainable consumptions and reuse of material is feasible to be introduced in the industry according to our future technical demonstrations that polynSPIRE project is proposed in the following steps.

However, the solution to the plastic future cannot be found by a single action but a collective movement is needed.

It’s in our hands to make a difference, would you like to join us?

NEXT STEPS FOR POLYNSPIRE

  • On October 2021 we will celebrate a big milestone - our second Review meeting and three year of the project.
  • CIRCE, one of polynSPIRE partners, is set to receive a dedicated new medium lab-scale microwave applicator in their facilities in Zaragoza (Spain).
  • In the next months, the reactor for chemical recycling via Smart Magnetic Materials (SMM), will be installed and operative to produce the firsts results.
  • A Designed injection system has been started at FerriereNord – Gruppo Pittini.
  • polynSPIRE is continuing a new online campaign “What does polynSPIRE bring you?”.
