Summer Newsletter

Online Services

At Modulations Therapies, your health and wellbeing are our top priority. This summer, I will continue to offer primarily online, remote music therapy services and music lessons. While I miss being in your homes and facilities so very much, sessions over secure video-platforms offer many benefits and families are loving them!

Haven't tried it yet? Summer is a great opportunity to do so! We also hope to begin outdoor, physically-distant sessions as appropriate. Please contact me to discuss the best fit for your family or facility.

Singing and sharing instruments in close proximity is still not safe in most circumstances. Here is what we can do:

  • Virtual Music Therapy services on our secure, online platform
  • Online or outdoor Music Lessons
  • Live stream music therapy groups into your school or facility (or explore live outdoor options)
  • Host an online birthday party or other celebration
  • Provide fun music experiences at your virtual summer camp
  • Create personalized video content for your family, group, staff, students, etc.

Summer Groups and Programs

LiveWell Online Wellness Group

Join me on Wednesdays at 10am, starting June 10th, for LiveWell, an online Health and Wellness Program offered through the Beth Wright Cancer Center. This free series is a holistic approach to creating a personal wellness plan focusing on: emotional & spiritual wellness; physical activity; healthy diet; personal environment; and rejuvenation. These five elements are based on the American Cancer Institute’s 5-To-Thrive program and offer the opportunity for people living with cancer to achieve better treatment outcomes and reduce the risk of recurrence. This series is also open to those without a cancer diagnosis who wish to reduce their cancer risk and lead a healthy lifestyle. Learn more and register here.

Ellsworth Library Summer Virtual Music Group

Modulations Therapies plans to return to the Ellsworth Library on Wednesdays from 2:00 - 2:30pm starting July 7th for a virtual family music group, geared towards children ages 3-6 yrs. Join us online for an opportunity to connect and make music with other families in our community! Stay tuned to the Library website and my Facebook page for official details.

Music and Mind Webinars

with Renee Fleming

Renowned soprano Renée Fleming is hosting a series of webinars called Music and Mind Live. The online series features conversations with scientists and practitioners working at the intersection of music, neuroscience, and healthcare. I loved the primer episode about Music, Loneliness, and Isolation with former a Surgeon General, and the Musical Toolkit for being at home with children which aired last week. Check out all of the episodes, and follow new ones as they are released here.

Resources

There are many unsettling things happening in our world right now. From Covid-19 to racial justice issues, many of us feel heartbroken and are seeking ways to grow our awareness and have difficult conversations with our children and communities. Here are links to some resources I have found most helpful at this time:

  • Racism and Violence: Using your power as a parent to support children aged 2-5
  • Sesame Street Racism Town Hall from CNN
  • Being Antiracist- Talking about Race
  • Corona Virus: Helping Kids Get Used to Masks
  • 5 Music Therapy Techniques to Help You Cope During Quarantine
  • 19 Books to Help Children Find Hope and Strength in Stressful Times

What has helped you during this time? Want to have a conversation?

Contact me. I'm listening.
