Hei from Norway Round-Up Readers! Visiting Oslo for the first time! Here with Preferred Hotels checking out the 231-room Sommerro, a conversion of the city's former electric company headquarters and original public bathing house both with stunning original Art Deco detail, and Villa Inkognito, a brand new 11-room villa accommodation, which was originally a private residence built in 1870 by architect Thøger Binneballe. Both properties have been reimagined by GrecoDeco, a London/New York-based interior design firm known for doing The Ned properties. Besides the stunning design with a Mad Men-era vibe, the place is FUN, there are four restaurants, three bars, and a rooftop terrace-plus lots of live music and every place is packed with tall, good-looking Nordic-types. Three things I've loved: The newly reopened (June of 2022) National Museum, home to many Edvard Munch paintings and Norwary's largest collection of art + design A Wim Hof-style cold water bath and breathwork lesson at the hotel's spa A visit outside the city to the Kistefos modern art museum/ sculpture park, home to The Twist, a 15,000-square-foot structure spanning a river in the middle of the park Tomorrow we try an urban outdoor swim/sauna in a fjord! Look on my Instagram over the next few days to see what I'm talking about!
Now, on to the news! |
