goals are defined, study questions are in prompt form to promote correct responses and consistent delivery of reinforcement and feedback with minimal delay. Precision teaching involves pinpointing the skills to be learned by measuring the initial frequency or rate per minute at which the learner can perform those skills, setting a goal for the learner improvement, using direct and daily measurements to monitor progress made under instructional program, charting the result of those measurements on a standard celeration chart and changing programs when it's no longer benefitting the learner. Direct Instruction Direct instruction is used to teach academic subjects and involves a prepared curriculum (usually a detailed script that teachers follow). This teaching method relies on stimulus control interventions that teach general concepts, principles and problem solving strategies. Direct instruction incorporates all the principles of effective teaching; clearly stated behavioral objectives, competent models; provides many opportunities for active responding; delivers immediate feedback, allows self pacing, frequently and directly measures responding that is tied to the behavioral objectives, using the outcomes of those measurements to make instructional decisions. |
