Bus fares in UK capped at $4

The UK government will provide up to £60 million from January to March 2023, to help bus operators to cap single adult fares at £2 ($4) per journey. It is hoped that the move will help passengers with travel costs for work, education, shopping and medical treatments over the winter months while they are facing pressures from the rising cost of living. This follows on from an announcement from the UK government of £130 million last month to protect vital bus routes and services across the country, which those on lower incomes rely on.

How do you know which products are "green" and which aren't?

Greenwashing is when companies and brands wave a green wand over their products and whisper a lot of marketing speak in consumers’ ears, without really doing all that much to back it up.

Words such as “natural”, “eco” and “environmentally-friendly”, and images of green leaves, forests, trees or animals, may not be telling the whole story.

There are a lot of ‘green' or ‘ethical' certification marks out there, but which ones are meaningful? The Sustainable Business Network has a list of marks which are relevant in New Zealand.
