Recently there has been a tectonic shift in my approach to 'daily routines' that has brought me so much peace. And it is far beyond a supplement.
Most people will tell you that an unbreakable morning routine is the keystone habit that establishes the quality of your day. Even though this was once something I preached (hello 4am wake up calls thanks to disregulated cortisol...but that's for another email), a lot has changed in the past couple of years.
Turns out it is actaully my nighttime routine that most critically impacts my day.
I probably don't need to tell you all the reasons sleep really is the foundation of vitality. It regulates hunger hormones, is when we actually build the muscle we work so hard to gain in the gym, and keeps our crabby alter-egos in a safer, volatile space (to name a few).
Getting not only enough sleep, but efficient sleep has been the single most impactful habit that takes my day from frazzled and anxiety-ridden, to cascading into a river of self-honoring choices.
Not journaling. Not a morning meditation. Not hitting the gym within my first 100 steps of the day. (To be clear these are all things that I once did believe had to be my 'keystone habit")
To help me achieve the sleep usually reserved for husbands and teenagers, I tried a lot of supplements. Stacked, stand-alone and every which-way, but I would always find myself waking early or in the middle of the night, never to return peacefully to sleep.
Most recently I've been using Dream Powder, which I blend with warm cashew milk at bedtime, from a brand called Beam. I'm sure you've heard me talk about it in my stories, so I won't dive deep here. If it sounds like anything you'd like to know more about, please let me know. If you've been on the fence about it but want to see what all my hype is about, you can get 35% off your first month (it also comes with a slew of other goodies) with my code KatieCrokus15 via this link here. I like that shipping is always free, and you'll forever hang on to the discount regardless of whether you decide to pause, restart or cancel altogether.
I've been dreaming about being able to share something like this for a long time. Please share with me if you try it and we can talk about all the things we DON'T miss about intermittent sleep.
