Hummus Day!

Go to the store and buy some chickpeas to make hummus (let's be real, just buy hummus at the store instead)!

Happy Friday Friends!!!

Happy Newsletter Friday! Welcome to those of you who are reading this for the first time and welcome back to those returning! Let's kick it off with the anticipated poll results!

THE POLL RESULTS:

Last weekend was a RAINY weekend here in NYC. That means it was perfect for breaking out your favorite rainy activity. What was everyone up to on last weekend's rainy day? Were you watching a movie? Running in the rain? Baking something delicious? Reading a good book? I mean, let's find out now!

It appears everyone was running.... running to their MOVIE MARATHON! A perfect rainy day activity! Who needs 26.2 miles when you can sit on the couch and do a movie marathon instead?!

IN THE HEADLINES:

Are you tired of all the constant headlines popping up on your phones? Does the news sometimes ruin the day? Here is a place where you can find uplifting, fun, and good news from people in our own community. Keep looking to your own life headlines for a smile!

Featured Headlines:

  • "We met up with someone we met on Omegle in middle school! Stranger Danger advocates would not be pleased!!"
    • Hannah F and Alex J - Everywhere and Nowhere

  • "I went to go visit my cat!"
    • Sydney - DC

  • "I saw Funny Girl with a friend!"
    • Alex - NY

Hannah and Alex, that sounds like so much fun! Those stranger danger advocates would not be please but, don't all friends start out as strangers first?! Sydney, how nice it is to go home and see your cat?! Finally, I did see Funny Girl and it was fun going with a friend.

Our news might be small but, it was good news! Want to be featured "In the Headlines"? Share your breaking news here to have the chance to be in the next newsletter!

OTHER NEWS:

These past few weeks has been another overwhelming news cycle. With all the murmur around Roe v. Wade, it is easy to feel hopeless. Right now, I have felt particularly powerless in this situation. I've been doing all I am able to do to help (donate, speak about it, check-in with others, and vote). There are times when it feels like everything we do is pointless because when we do show up and do everything, we still lose. The thing is, we have been fighting this war for many many years and this issue isn't the start of the war, it is just the most recent battle. We have to keep fighting and some battles might be lost along the way (as scary as that sounds) but, we will fight to win the war in the end. I am going to try to do what I can to keep the world moving in the correct direction.

Okay, y'all! It is MAY! Woof, am I right?! These past few weeks life has been moving, grooving, jiving, and all of the above. There are so many great things that come along in May and one of them is the weather, the start of the awesome sunsets, and outdoor hangs. Right now, it feels like the world is truly smiling as we all find our way back outside more and more. Spring has a youthful feel to it and I truly love seeing it every year. The excitement of what is to come, the freshness of the world, and the happiness in the air. Alexa, play "Happiness" from You're a Goodman Charlie Brown.

Thank you for reading this and if this brought a smile to your day, feel free to forward it on and spread the cheer! Don't forget the impact a little kindness can have. It can create lots of change!

'Til next time,

...alex is out
