Hello, Haven Homes of Detroit supporters! We're so excited that spring seems to be just around the corner, and just like the seasons, things are moving forward at Haven. Renovations and fundraising have been keeping us the most busy, but we continue to work on the programing and networking with other local non-profits to ensure that we are ready for our first residents to move in later this year. We are so thankful for your ongoing support and thoughts, and we appreciate the chance to give you an update on what's new at HHD this month.

We're getting some heat!
 
After a long few months of working in the cold with lots of layers of long-underwear and coveralls, Aaron's counting the days until we have heat at the house. Due to some of the structural challenges of an old house, we are turning our bonus/attic space into the a furnace room which means Aaron's been busy getting walls ready to go up and the floor completed on the third floor.  
 
We've been so blessed to have more than half of our total $25,000 bill raised to cover the expense of 2 furnaces, an air conditioner, and all new duct work for a 3 story home. We've received more than $2,000 in the last week. If you are interested in contributing to our heating project, please consider donating at the link below,

Creating a program for HHD
 
Most of the buzz about Haven Homes of Detroit comes from updates on our renovations and fundraising, but it is not lost on us that Haven Homes of Detroit exists to provide safe, stable housing for women. We exist to create a place of healing and hope for women who desperately need a community of support and encouragement.  We've been doing A LOT of reading and learning about trauma, providing trauma-informed care, and survivor-centric programs that we will provide.
 
We have been networking with other local non-profits as well as meeting more neighbors around our home (have you heard about NIMBY?! Google it- and know we're consciously working to be respectful and valued community members). 
 
Additionally, we have determined that we want to use a program that 2 local non-profits use that is based out of Thistle Farms in the Nashville area. We are working on getting down to Thistle Farms to learn first-hand about their work soon.

Join us for golf to raise 
funds for HHD
 
We are looking forward to our first annual golf-outing with all proceeds going to support Haven Homes of Detroit! Are you a golfer looking for an excuse to get out on the greens? A boss or leader looking for a team building experience? Or somebody who just loves supporting HHD? If you said yes to any of these, check out our event at the link below!
