#JoinTheFunIn21

We made it!  It's 2021... now what?!   It's time to prepare for summer camp 2021.  Our mantra this year, in the word of Lee Binkley, is for you and your fellow Scouts to "Join the fun in '21!"

The camp staff has interviewed and is anxiously awaiting their appointments for this summer.  With more than 90% of our applicant pool submitted, we have only a few staff positions remaining.  E-mail us today at Program.Canyon@gmail.com if you were considering applying but didn't quite pull the trigger (sorry- our shooting sports program seems to have received enough applicants, but we have other options for you to apply for!).

This month we are contacting all 60+ units who have registered for camp thus far to update your estimated registrants.  We want to provide the best summer camp possible and getting a clearer picture from you will help us do this.   Be sure to let us know an estimate by January 15-  don't worry, these are just estimates and $50/Scout deposits are not due until April.

As of today, our projected attendance for the summer season is at 907 Scouts BSA registrants as of today.  We even have our first Webelos/AOL registrants secured as well!  There is much anticipation for our Scouts to get outdoor and enjoy the Spirit of Canyon Camp. If your unit has not yet secured your spot, be sure to register today- Weeks 1 and 4 are already at capacity.  Learn more and register today at www.canyoncampbsa.org/register.

We have many adventures planned for 2021, and we can't wait to have you join us for them!

Alumni Corner:

Fifty Years in the Making

If you've been to Canyon Camp in the last few decades, you've seen a project completed by one of our many committed volunteers.  The stories each of our volunteers have are unique- especially that of John and Jeannie Wurtzel.

Fifty Years ago this last New Years, they met at a winter camp filled with hot cocoa and sledding (yeah, we kind of have good hills for sledding).  Their story has continued for many years including Eagle Scout and Gold Award children- all with their own love for Canyon Camp.

Stewards of Canyon Camp Exceeding Expectations

The "Stewards of Canyon Camp"  initiative is off to a strong start and is symbolic for the love and support our community has for Canyon Camp.

The total contributions given to date will be shared with the leadership council in February or March, but we are excited to share that more than forty alumni and friends have come together to support annual capital and program related projects at Canyon Camp for the 2021 season.  Our initial goal was around 25.  Wow!

Click below to learn more about giving to Canyon Camp.  Your gift today builds upon the strong foundation of Camp and its ability to serve young people long into the future.    If you'd like to give for the 2021 year, please consider making your gift today to be counted leading into the 2021 camping season.

Taste of Okpik:

February 13 @ Canyon Camp

Okpik is a popular, informative, and FUN winter camping training program that the BAC has offered annually for the last 10 years.

This mini program will teach you highlights from our full course instruction allowing questions about winter camping.

This program is a natural for social distancing. It's outside, and your face is already covered to stay warm!

Be sure to register early-  this is one of the best ways to enjoy Canyon Camp this winter.
