Ahead in the Count

a monthly newsletter for independent school leaders

December 1, 2020

Promise

During Thanksgiving break, news of promising vaccines primed independent school leaders for tentative optimism, a reason to believe that we might soon be freed from the daily dread of the pandemic, even as cases nationwide have surged.  The lens in this newsletter's collection of pieces moves dramatically, from the perspective of enrollment directors and their planning for the delayed admission season, to the horizon scanning of next fall and the community rebuilding that heads will lead then, to the opportunity winter break presents heads and board chairs to perform a 30,000 foot governance check up.

Important Knuckleball News:

I have joined the Gowan Group as a Managing Director and plan to focus my business generation and consulting work through them. I've gained a very talented group of colleagues in this move with more projects and clients under their belts. One of my goals is to help Gowan Group become better connected in the Central States and the South.  All of this is not to say that Knuckleball Consulting is going away or hibernating.  I plan to continue publishing this newsletter, writing for my blog, presenting and occasionally taking on small projects under the Knuckleball flag.  I'm deeply grateful to my new employer for their willingness to be open to this arrangement.
