WEBSITE Your feedback and contributions have been invaluable in ensuring the website remains relevant and useful for our community. A significant amount of time was spent at our last hui closely examining the survey results and website's analytics, for example; how the site is being used, which topics are most popular, and where improvements can be made. This data-driven approach allows us to prioritise future actions effectively. As we move forward, we will continue to focus on website formatting and accessibility to ensure that all users have a seamless experience and your ongoing input is essential in this process. TE WHARE WHAKARURUHAU: TRAUMA INFORMED PRACTICE (TIP) We are looking forward to the first session of our Te Whare Whakaruruhau- Creating Safe Spaces online workshop on Friday 06 September 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Week 7, this will be followed by sessions in Week 2 and Week 7 Term 4. From our surveys you have let us know that while RTLB have understandings of relational neuroscience it can be difficult to know how to apply this in our practice in a way which supports meaningful change, or overcomes teacher reticence. This will be the focus of our first session. Work is well underway to add a treasure trove of resources and information related to Relational Neuroscience, Trauma and effective trauma informed supports to our website, we will let you know when it’s available. Our recent blog post in Ngā Kōrero discusses the importance of language a vital tool for connection and understanding. Finally, we are currently busy gathering ākonga and kaiako voice for our Te Whare Whakaruruhau Research project and look forward to being able to publish some initial outcomes in the near future. UNIVERSAL DESIGN FOR LEARNING (UDL) From the recent PLN survey we could see clearly that Neurodiversity and UDL were high on your priority list. Therefore we have been working on ways to support this. Throughout the last term the UDL Rōpū has been working on the development of a Community of Practice, with the first session focusing on “Supporting Neurodiversity through a UDL Lens”.
The first of these will take place on Wednesday 7 August at 8:30 a.m. Our guest speaker is ex-RTLB and current principal Tracey McConachie. Join us to find out more about how we as RTLB can offer support to schools with the implementation of UDL in a New Zealand context. Jon Mundorf clips
We have been processing and abridging the Jon Mundorf workshop sessions and will be adding these to the UDL Group on the PLN website throughout this term. If you are already a UDL group member, pop into it or become a group member to view the key points from Jon’s presentations. We are also setting up a space on the RTLB PLN website with the title ‘Neurodiversity’. This will be found with the UDL page on the ‘Kaupapa’ tab. Here you will be able to find resources in relation to Neurodiversity.
