Black History Month Scavenger Hunt

February 1-29

Lydia, our wonderful Youth Services Librarian has created another great educational scavenger hunt for kids.

Find all nine "hidden" clues of these famous African Americans in the library and win a prize!

Lunar New Year

Lion Dance

February 9 11:30-12:00

Celebrate the Year of the Dragon at the Del Mar Library! The exuberant CK Lion Dancers return to the library with a raucous, fun-filled, extremely loud event!

All ages are welcome. Funded by The Friends.

Brazilian Music Concert

February 13 5:30-6:30

Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Stefanie Schmitz performs Brazilian music with guitar accompaniment. Stefanie wants to use music to foster empowerment, expression, and connection in children and adults.

This concert is made possible by the support of the Friends of the Del Mar Library and is in partnership with the Center for World Music. All ages are welcome.

Storyteller Ina Buckner-Barnette returns to the library to share a series of African folktales in her highly engaging and joyous style. Geared to Kids under 5...all ages welcome. Funded by the Friends.

Mental Health First Aid Class

Part I and Part 2

This two-day class is hosted by the library but brought to you by Mental Health America San Diego County, a nonprofit mental health advocacy group. Registation is required on their website for each day. For more information go to Mental Health America San Diego County..

Book Talkers - A Book Club Without Homework!

Join the group and talk about what you're reading. Judith, a Del Mar Library volunteer, leads the group in lively, friendly discussion. Share your thoughts, hear others, maybe get inspired for your next read! No registration rerquired.

San Diego County Libraries Support Menstrual Equity

 

Free4Me is the County of San Diego pilot program providing free, organic menstrual products (tampons and pads) in County facilities across the region.

 

Fifty-eight “free-vend” menstrual product dispensers have been installed in 24 County libraries and community centers., including the Del Mar Library. For more information.

Friends-funded Chair Yoga continues every Tuesday from 12:30-1:30

throughout February. Check the Friends website during the month

for blog updates and early notice of Del Mar Library events requiring registration.

Support the Del Mar Library

Become a member of the Friends of the Del Mar Library, a nonprofit organization, or donate online to support activities and programs like concerts, yoga, family playtime, art classes, and new books at the Del Mar Library. The Friends also funds upgrades to the Library and the Mosaic Garden Wall.
