Our mission is belonging.

August 2022

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”

 - President Barack Obama

Monthly Focus: Showing Up with a Decided Heart

Showing up the way you want is a matter of design, not default. It all starts with truly committing to the energy we aspire to, how we want to leave other people feeling, and how we want to feel ourselves. Energy never comes from nothing. It always has a specific fuel. The fuel you choose will determine the energy output. This month, we are really examining our morning and evening habits and whether they are contributing or detracting from who we want to be.

Showing Up with a Decided Heart:

One of our clients, Bill, confided to us recently how anxious and crabby he felt daily. He snapped at his kids and wife. He would get on calls at work and needlessly argue and criticize his teammates. As he put it, “I am not leaving people better than I find them. If anything, I am leaving bodies in my wake.”

We asked him one simple question. “How do you start your mornings?”

His eyes grew wide, and as he started to speak; we could see his “aha moment” unveiling itself before our eyes.

“Oh my goodness. Why have I never thought of this? I start by hitting the snooze button until I know I am going to have to rush. I take the fastest shower ever while listening to the news. I continue to listen to the news as I barely chew my breakfast and slosh down some coffee, and then I start in on meetings. If anyone crosses my path as I am rushing, I feel annoyed and agitated.”

Sound familiar, anyone?

So, we asked him, “Bill, how would you like your mornings to look and feel?”

“If I really got to bed on time, I would love to get up and have a full 90 minutes before I go to work. I would be so relaxed if I sat outside with my breakfast and coffee, and listened to an inspirational podcast or read a book that helped me grow. The news just makes me anxious. I think I will limit that to catching up with headlines at lunch. I will make sure that I take a second and actually smile and greet my wife and kids.”

He smiled and shook his head. “Why have I never thought of this before? Is it really this simple?”

Yes, Bill. Yes, it is. Living with a decided heart is simple, but not easy. That is why we are always here for you! How will you fill your decided heart intentionally today?

84. 3 Tips to Inspire You and Your Team

When we think about celebrations, so many of us have the habit of thinking that a celebration has to be something we wait for. We imagine parties, confetti, balloons, a large audience and loud sounds. It’s like we hold our breath to allow ourselves to acknowledge how we are showing up for ourselves and others. In this episode, Hilary and Sonja will talk about why we need to find more ways and times to celebrate even our smallest achievements (which are bigger than we think!). Learn why this habit of celebrating not only feels better and elevates our energy levels, but it also increases our connections, productivity and quality of life personally and professionally.  Yeah, it’s that powerful!
