Horse Feathers Welcomes Back a Veteran |
Last week Ray of Light Farm was happy to welcome back one of our beloved veterans and volunteers who has given so much to us. Eileen started with the Horse Feathers Veterans Program and has been volunteering and participating for several years. She was hospitalized for many months and missed Ray of Light Farm greatly, especially her friend Emily the donkey. Last week was her triumphant return to the farm. You can tell from the photo how much she and Emily have bonded. The Horse Feathers Veterans Program will begin its Spring session on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 and run every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There is no cost to join and we welcome any veteran and first responder who would like to learn about horses, or interact with any of our other animals. Contact Jackie at 860-550-1955 (phone or text) for more info. |

The Travelers Championship is proud to be a PGA TOUR event that donates 100 percent of net proceeds to charity every year. Since 1952, the tournament has given more than $44 million to the community, and in 2020, the Travelers Championship generated $1.6 million for 115 charities throughout the region. The tournament is committed to supporting our charitable community through Birdies for Charity. It is a PGA TOUR initiative to build a community of tournaments, players, charities, sponsors, partners, volunteers and fans who are committed to making a social investment by helping others. The majority of the funds raised as a professional sporting league are directed back into the local community where the tournament is held. This means that there isn’t one specific beneficiary of the PGA TOUR. Instead there are nearly 3,000 charities and countless individuals worldwide who are touched by the TOUR’s goal of giving back. Launched in 2004, Birdies for Charity provides every 501(c)(3) in Connecticut an opportunity to raise awareness for its cause. The program is simply a giving platform that utilizes the excitement around the tournament to help nonprofits across the region raise awareness and funds to support their missions. The Travelers Championship sends 100% of collected donations to participating charities. Thanks to the support of Webster Bank, each organization that raises money through Birdies for Charity will receive a 15% bonus on top of every donation collected. |

March Is Also A Birthday Month |
We have two Party Boys this month; Race Car and Stormy! They're both turning 15 this year, just 2 weeks a part of each other. Race Car was born on 3/12/2006. He is the most fabulous little Miniature Horse gelding and was born here at the farm. He will remain a permanent resident for life. This guy knows a whole bunch of tricks, and he is also a certified therapy horse. Stormy was born 3/27/2006. He is an Off-The-Track-Thoroughbred, as they say. He ran 20 races total as a 3 and a 4 year old. Stormy is one of our lovely boarders, and according to his human mom, he now lives the happy life of a "spoiled couch potato". Happy Birthday to our boys! |
