Greetings From Your

Vice President

What a wonderful turnout we had for our September meeting. We recognized Cary Condotta for his support of our issues.

Our program also spotlighted three of District 12 candidates. Ann Diamond, Keith Goehner and Valerie Sarratt gave us information about their backgrounds and the issues they support. It was a most interesting and informative program.

The donations CDSRA made to a variety of community programs were announced. Our emphasis is on supporting education and building our community.

Our October 8, 2018 meeting with feature Matt Cadman, executive director of the Numerica Performing Arts Center. He will explain and promote the EKAP program which enables school children to experience live theater. Please come and bring a friend!

Hope to see you on the 8th.

Sincerely,

Marie Buckner, Unit 2 Vice-President

Your Vote Is Important!!!

Did you know -- Presidential Elections have been decided by less than one vote in every precinct in the USA. The 1960 Presidential election was won by 120,000 votes out of 69 million votes cast!

Our September meeting gave attendees the opportunity to hear three legislative candidates for the 12th district. We also honored Rep. Cary Condotta for his support in working toward our legislative goals in 2018.

Your vote in the coming elections is important! Remember WSSRA is a non-partisan association. As an association we only support retirement issues.

We need to elect candidates interested in our issued who will assist us in obtaining our 2019 priorities.

Priorities for 2019:

  • TRS 1 & PERS 1 Pension Recovery
  • Restore Retiree Healthcare Benefits
  • Expand and Equalizes the Full Retirement Age in Plans 2 & 3
  • Protect Retirees in Transition to New Health Providers

Remember -- "Every vote is important!" Use yours to help gain deserved benefits for PERS and TERS current and future retirees.

WSSR - PAC

The WSSR-PAC Board endorsed Legislative Candidate, Representative Mike Steele, as he was instructional in supporting our 2018 retirement gains. Mike will be attending our October meeting.

Important Health Reminder!

It's time for your flu shot! It has been recommended the earlier the better this year!! Be sure to ask your primary care provider about the new immunization for those of you who are 65 or older.

The new Shingle immunization is being recommended in addition to the 2 you have received in the past. Research shows it to be more effective. Check with your primary care provider.

Members Helping Members

A number of our members would like to attend the monthly meetings but have no way to get there. If you would be willing to give someone a ride, please contact a CDSRA Board Member or leave Bev Jagla a message at: 509-670-6102. If you need a ride, please call the number listed above at least a day before the meeting.

Field Trip!!!

Make plans to visit Alatheia Therapy Riding Center after the meeting October 8. Our unit has contributed to this outstanding program and it will be interesting to see how important this service is for our valley. We'll be leaving right after the general meeting and will car pool for those of you interested in participating. This is a beautiful facility and it is heartwarming to watch the children participate.
